Last weekend we attended our first annual Polynesian
Cultural Festival here in North Salt Lake!
It was a huge two-day event and both days we went planning on only being
there for an hour or so. And both days
we ended up staying five hours! It was
such a good time for our entire family.
One
of the days we went with Andrew’s sister Brittney’s family. Alex, her husband who served his mission in
Hawaii was especially loving it all and the girls all had a great time
too. And the two baby boys, well, they didn’t
really seem to care. Audrey and Hannah
and Lynny and Hazel got up on the stage a few times to dance and participate in
games and activities (like freeze dancing and meeting Moana) and I got a major
shopping fix from all the awesome vendors (got some Christmas shopping done
early!).
There were several amazing
performances- hula dances, Tahitian, fire knife dancers, local musicians, and
so much more. One of the things we were
most looking forward to leading up to the event was THE FOOD. And it did not disappoint! We got our kalua pork and teriyaki beef with
macaroni salad, mountains of rice, and spam musubi for dinners, then topped it
off with some ice cream sundaes and other treats.
We loved being a part of this event
celebrating one of our family’s cultures.
We all had some Poly Pride going on this weekend, even Andrew! He’s definitely Hawaiian at heart! Cant wait for next year!
