I do believe that my favorite movie of all time is Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck.  My mom got it for me one Christmas on a whim because I was into Audrey style by then.  Little did she know that I would end up watching it about 600 times that year.  Isn’t it nice when something random turns into some special?  I think our family has found a lot of special things that way.  Sale racks and such.  One of my siblings and my absolute favorite Christmas traditions was bought from a sale rack.  The fond memories it has given us have made it a priceless treasure to our family.  But I’ll probably blog about that around Christmas anyway.  So moving on….
Roman Holiday.  I don’t even know WHY I adore it so much because the end is so not the fairy tale happily ever after that I usually love.  But then again maybe that tragic romance aspect of it is why it appeals to me.  Because it’s realistic and heart wrenching.  And I am someone who loves having her heart wrenched.   I think what I also like about it is that it keeps you wondering and leaves the rest to your imagination.  For anyone who hasn’t seen it I won’t say any more than that. 
I’ve already blogged about why I love Gregory Peck.  And so many people love Audrey Hepburn that I don’t want to add to the million blog posts their probably are about how lovely she is and how I want to imitate her style.  While those are two reasons I like her, I also admire Audrey for her kindness and grace.  She is talked a lot about for her elegance and poise, but I don’t think enough is said about her personality.  From what I’ve read and seen in behind the scenes footage, she seemed pretty humble and even self conscious sometimes.  A few books have said that she hated her nose and her crooked teeth and her boyish frame.  That last one seems funny because that boyish frame is what set her aside from the Marilyn Monroes of that era and started making her famous.


How many Hollywood stars then were not known for their sex appeal or amazing singing voice?  Cause Audrey definitely didn’t have that last one.  I think her voice was nice enough, though.  But I think she did have that extra something about her that no one could exactly put their finger on.  Now, I’m not saying Audrey was perfect in any way.  But I do think that she was better able than most to keep her kind heart throughout all her fame.  She had a pet baby deer for goodness sake.  Her caring nature is also evident in her work with UNICEF in her elderly years.  I also admire her because she always wanted to have a family of her own.  I truly believe that she would’ve dropped her career in an instant if the opportunity had presented itself earlier in life. 

Another one of my favorite movies has her in it as well.  It’s called Funny Face and she co-stars with Fred Astaire, another movie screen love of my life.  Roman Holiday and Funny Face are two of my favorite movies, ones I could pop into the DVD player anytime.  Old movies bring me such happiness I can’t possibly describe!!  Sometimes when I’m having a hard day, I take a break to sit down and watch one of my wonderful movies.  And the beginning credits alone will literally bring tears of joy to my eyes.  I can’t describe it.  But I love it so much. 

Audrey Hepburn is one of those people that bring me that happiness.  Because I really do want to be like her in so many ways for so many reasons!  She is one of my favorite people ever. 

Andrew and I recently bought my sister's MacBook Pro.

A few things...

First thing: So, last Sunday I gave myself an unexpectedly nice hairstyle for church.  It came out of some crazy frizzy curls and I'm just pretty proud of how it turned out (even though it was still a little frizzy).   So I thought I'd post a picture for my future self when I have bad hair days!




Third thing:  So, as you can see, in the second picture my hair was much too short for any kind of cute hairstyle like the first one.  I am having a dilemma of late because I like both styles so much!  I think that short a-line cut speaks to my old school, black and white movie style really well.  And I think it's cute.  But sometimes I really crave long hair so I can put it into a cute style or just a plain pony tail.  I really love the look of a messy bun too.  I'm conflicted.  Andrew likes it short,  but sometimes I feel like it makes my head look tiny compared to my body and I hate that look!  On the other hand though, I also dislike super flat hair on me (don't get me wrong, I think it looks great on other people like Jennifer Aniston, but it just doesn't suit me...it's not the way I want to look) and short hair is much easier to make look cute with a little poof.  Right now my hair is to my shoulders because I had decided to grow it out.  But after looking at the second picture I'm tempted to run to Paul Mitchell right now!  Who has an opinion??  I'd love to hear it!!

A long time ago Andrew and I found an amazing nature path near Utah Lake.  I'm actually not sure which lake it is but I know there is a Utah Lake around here somewhere.  Anyways it was one of the greatest places we've found here in Provo.  There was a small stream on one side of the path where people were lazily fishing and there was green field where horses grazed on the other side.  Trees lined the pathway as well and it was just so lovely.  We went at the perfect time of day when the sun was setting on the bright green field with the horses and everything was sun kissed.  It was pretty magical.  We hope to go back again sometime soon now that I'm out of school.

My semester is over OVER OVER!!  Forever!  Okay, well not forever.  But this was probably the worst semester of my life and so I am very very very happy to see it go.  I've learned a lot about myself, though:

#1- Speaking any language other than English (and the bits and pieces of Korean I know from pop music) is definitely NOT my calling in life.
#2- I love LOVE LOVE studying Child Development.  I believe this IS my calling in life. 
#3- Karate chopping an open water bottle near the computer is, in fact, NOT a wise thing to do.  Especially when I have to give a talk in Church the next day and I have a few three page papers due in the next week.
#4- Crying is my favorite stress reliever.
#5- Oranges are my energy food.

There is plenty more that I have learned this semester, good and bad, but those are the basics.  However, I am very happy to not be learning any more from this semester's classes, except perhaps the Child Development class.  The word "relief" has taken on a new meaning for me.  I am happy.  Very happy and very relieved.
