We spent the rest of our trip at the Zoo and City Creek. I haven't had a good ol fashioned zoo trip in a long time and it was definitely one of my favorite things we did. I remember when I was little I always just died to see tiny little baby animals, and turns out that hasn't changed. There were these teeny baby monkeys that were bright bright orange, there were baby otters, and baby giraffes and turtles...I was pressing my nose against the glass and squealing along with all the other five year old girls. It was so relaxing to be there. We ate oranges and pizza and had a grand old time!

Then we went to that crazy huge City Creek mall and marveled- yes marveled- at the hugeness of it all. This is just one wing of it... And a trip to Salt Lake wouldn't be complete for either of us without a visit to our beloved Temple Square. We have so many memories there that we absolutely treasure. It was so nice to be there with no time crunch, no thoughts of work or homework, or any other responsibilities this year of marriage has brought on. Just us. Happy Anniversary my Andrew :)

Well, we made it- ONE YEAR DOWN, only 95 more to go! To celebrate our first anniversary we took a much needed vacation to Salt Lake. Some of the places we went were the "This is the Place" Pioneer Village, Hogle Zoo, and the brand new City Creek Center mall! There was just way too much amazingness for me to blog about the details, but I did take a lot of pictures and videos! At one point Andrew requested that I stop focusing so much on getting pictures of everything and just try to enjoy everything. So we didn't get as many pictures of the zoo, but maybe that's why we had such an amazing time there! Because I wasn't as distracted with documenting everything. Sometimes I worry so much about remembering the experience that I forget to actually experience the experience....if that's makes any sense. It was our anniversary and so we focused on being able to just away together for a little while. Anyway, it was a lesson well learned. But here are some of the pictures we did get:

This was called the "Courting Couch." It was how a young man and woman would 'date'- very upright seats and a corner that prevented them from getting too close! The candle on the seat was for the father. If he approved of the boy he would raise the candle higher so they could have more time. If he didn't like him he would lower it so that the boy would have to leave sooner.

This was how they taught kids to milk cows correctly- with bears on strings!I turned out to be a pro.

One of our favorite parts of our whole little vacation were the Native American Dancers show in one of the village buildings. They were quite amazing, I absolutely loved it (and Mom you would've loved it too)! It reminded me of Northern Exposure so much that when we got home I had to watch an episode or two. Once I figure out how to upload videos on here I'll post the really awesome dances.

It was all so great! Andrew and I don't come from the same cultures completely, but this history- church history- is part of both of us. It was meaningful to be there and see the lives these people lived because of their testimonies of the gospel. We both can appreciate that very deeply.

The same day the BYU Basketball team brought us that free pizza they also gave us two free cupcake coupons for a little bakery called the Sweet Tooth Fairy. So we put them, and our wonderful car, to use yesterday on a Friday night date. We kept hearing that this Sweet Tooth Fairy place won first prize on the cupcake wars show, so our hopes were quite high when we went there. But not high enough!! It was the cutest little place I think I may have ever ever seen! If I were ever to own a bakery, or a shop of any kind, this is definitely how I would decorate it! I wish I could work there, but it's kinda far. Honestly, I think I like Cocoa Bean cupcakes a little better, but this place definitely had the cuteness factor and that won me pretty quickly since I'm not much of a baked goods person anyway. I had the Creme-Brulee cupcake which was a brown sugar cupcake with buttercream frosting and a creme-brulee filling. Andrew had a Garrett's Marble cupcake which was some combination of chocolate and vanilla. He scarffed it so fast, though, I barely even saw it. Then we also had a few little cake bites that were just so cute I didn't even want to eat them. But Andrew did, so I took a picture and let it go. Apparently the outer cuteness indicated an inner delectable-ness- it was soo good! They had flowers and candy decorating the pretty white shelves against Tiffany Blue walls. They also have a cupcake named for Stephanie Nielson, the plane crash survivor from the Mormon Message. It's such a cute wonderful girly place. I love Andrew for taking me there and supporting me as I oohed and ahhed over all the cuteness. Someday I'd like to take my new little NIECE there for, like, a tea party or something. If this entire post doesn't clue you in to how much I fell in love with this place I'll tell you now- I love this place.

I know I have yet to post pictures of our new apartment, but for now here is the view from our window: We love not being on a lower floor, hearing every conversation that goes by our window. I love dusk in the summertime :)

Here is our lovely little car! It's a 97 Toyota Camry, and it has brought Andrew a new hobby- learning all about cars. We got it used from a friend and with the help of our other friends the Snowdens, Andrew was able to get it all fixed up. I want it's name to be Cheverolet. For some reason Andrew doesn't agree. But ANYWAYS, regardless of the name, we LOVE it. We love finally being able to go to the grocery store without waiting at a bus stop or borrowing a friend's car. We feel more like grown-ups now, I think. A lot of new responsibilities come with it, but so far it's been very worth it for the great blessing independence is. In celebration of our new car we gave it a good wash on a bright sunny day last week! We had a water fight too, but that's another story. See? This new addition to our family has already provided us with good times- without even going anywhere! While we were washing the car the BYU Basketball team rolled up next to us and offered us a free pizza! They had leftovers from some activity they had done with highschool kids or something and were just driving around handing them out to people. It was awesome! Meeting the entire basketball team AND free pizza! I tell you it was the highlight of Andrew's week! Too bad we don't have any pictures of it.

I love Disney Channel original movies. I just love Disney Channel. I'm slightly embarassed to admit it, but I've come to accept that I probably always will. They always have happy perfect endings. Who doesn't want that? Yes they are corny. The girls are way too pretty and the boys are too well-dressed. But...I like them, I just do! Andrew and I stumbled onto a funny one this evening called Geek Charming. Whenever I see one I don't want to like it, but I just can't not! It's like I can't help myself! Some of my favorites are Zenon, Don't Look Under the Bed, Even Stevens, Luck of the Irish, Tru Confessions, High School Musical, Wish Upon A Star, and now Geek Charming. They're all just so...ditzy. And fun! Don't tell anyone.
