We had a picnic today with some of our greatest friends Mike and Amy Benning and their two boys Austin and Dallin. When we got to the park there were people all around playing on the playground, laying on the grass, throwing a frisbee, all the usual stuff. BUT there were also two guys practicing swordplay. Once we had we set up all our picnic stuff we turned around to check on the kids and saw this:
Apparently Austin, as leader, had decided that this was by far the best entertainment option at the park and directed Dallin and Audrey to set up the folding chairs for the three of them to watch the show. Austin even set each of them up with refreshments.
I don't know if there was any interaction between them and the guys, maybe some cheering, or oohing and aahing. I think the guys were just confused and maybe slightly annoyed that we weren't making the kids move somewhere else and not stare at them. Eventually they seemed a little weirded out and left, much to everyone's chagrin. No problem though. Director of Events Austin, simply moved the group to the next point of interest- the playground.
It was a great picnic. Audrey loved being tour-guided by Austin around the park (that we go to every week) and being a part of the more sophisticated group for once- feeling like big kid and not one of the babies. It was a good time.
