My friend has a list on her blog called "30 Things My Kids Should Know About Me" and since I've enjoyed reading hers I've decided to start one of my own. This will be another thing on this public blog that is just for me and my family so you can feel free to not read. But if you do and we have something in common then we'll just have more to talk about! (Also, I just want to put in a plug for my friends and family with blogs to do something like this…I would love to get to know each other better and know these things about you.) So enjoy if you want to! Don't if you don't!
20 random facts to tell the kids about myself
These are
some things I think it’d be cool for my kids to know about me. I don’t know how many of these will come out
in conversations with them throughout life so in case we don’t talk about these
things I just want them to know the person I am. I think most of these things they will come to know…so in a way this might
even be just a reminder list for me about who I am and the interests I have. So here are my 20 random facts:
1.
I'm not passionate about a lot of things, but in recent years I've realized that I'm very passionate about marriage, kids, and family life.
2.
I’m a member of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, as I think many people already know. I have a testimony of all the teachings of
the Church.
3.
I have false teeth. This is one I don’t think a lot of people
know…not that they need to. This is due
to genetics, NOT (as my Dad says) because my sister punched me in the jaw and
knocked all my teeth out.
4.
I have always loved dolls and
little things. And I truly believed that
my dolls were real babies when I was younger.
I loved stuffed animals, Barbies, and even Giga pets- anything I could
‘take care of.’
5.
I love black and white movies and
actors. Particularly Audrey Hepburn,
Fred Astaire, and Jimmy Stewart. I also
love the fashion from those days.
6.
I like to draw and paint
7.
I love art history and hope to
learn more about it someday
8.
I hope to go back to school one
day and study (or at least take classes in) child development, art history,
humanities/theater, or painting/drawing.
9.
I like to read children’s books-
with or without my child haha
10. I am very sentimental- this also kind of has turned me into a pack
rat. I used to keep everything.
11. I like to go through and organize our apartment every few
months. This is connected to that last
one because one reason I do it is so I can look through memories again and
again. It’s also good because then I see
things that I can get rid of because they are less significant than other
things I’ve kept and made room for.
12. I like to dance. I wish so
badly that I was amazing at every type of dancing. Particularly swing dancing and that kind of
stuff.
13. I used to do hula. Not
much, but I’m glad that I remember almost all the ones I learned so I can teach
them to my kids.
14. I enjoy learning as much as I can about WW2 time. I love the American Girl Molly series, I love
Anne Frank’s diary and the movies made about it, I love the war love stories,
and I love a good heart-wrenching story of courage and sacrifice.
15. I’ve been told I’m an old soul.
I think this is because of the black and white movies thing on the
surface, but I think its also because I’m a little ‘old fashioned’ in the
values I have and such. If I see a
teenager doing something annoying I shake my head and mutter, “Kids these days”
just like a grandparent would.
16. I really love a good cry.
From a book, movie, or just from my own overflowing emotions. It’s the best release for me.
17. The characters from my favorite shows, books, movies are like my
friends. If I’m lonely I just throw one
of them in the dvd player.
18. I grew up near the ocean in the house my mom grew up in. I love that place.
19. I love theater and was in plays from elementary school to high
school. I played Cinderella, Molly from
Annie, and Dorothy from Wizard of Oz all in elementary school. Then in high school I found my niche in
comedic roles! I even won the drama
competition at my school junior year…I even beat seniors! It was one of the proudest moments of my
young life. I also love going to Broadway
plays and I love to sing showtunes.
20. I love having a baby fall asleep in my arms. Ever since I was young I would feel so much
pride in having a baby fall asleep on me.
I think it was my mom who said I had a magic touch with babies. Whether I really did or not I don’t know but
now I that have my own little person who falls asleep on me all the time, I at
least know I have a magic touch with her!

Are you no longer doing tmommyt? I know this is a random place to mention it but I really enjoyed that blog and don't know where else to contact you.
I don't think I ever knew about your "falsies" as I "fondly" call them. I do too.. and it's genetics for me,too. Even though they are HUMONGOUS in my little mouth. I love that your Dad said that! Sounds like MINE :-) -Melanie
