One reason New Years was special was because we were able to be a part of Grandma Hanaike's memorial. We also had a Hanaike "Christmas Eve' celebration like old times, even though it wasn't actually on Christmas Eve. Natalie and Ray came to town and we had a ridiculously good time with them. Natalie and I were even able to go spend a few hours with Grandma Chandler at her apartment for the last time. She will be moving into my parent's house (which is her house) in the next few months and that apartment that has been a part of our life for 25 years will belong to someone else. It was truly a special year for me, a very reflective and fulfilling time of all things family. Fun and crazy, loving and peaceful somehow all at the same time. There is so much more I wish I could write.
One of my favorite things about this trip were newly discovered pictures. Some I've seen before, some I haven't. Some of my favorites are from my own childhood.
Our California trip, beginning with our drive:

Hannah had a sore on her heel from her shoes and somehow
conned Grandpa into being the one to take care of it
