As usual our recent trip to California can only be described with pictures. We went for some medical relief for me, yet again, but left with so much more than just that- emotional relief, memories, stronger relationships, a new resolve to endure, and more. I always love going home. It brings me so much happiness, relief, and perspective. Trips home fortify me for the hard times in between.
So here is a summary of our trip in pictures. I feel like we did so much more than these pictures show, but this is the gist of it:
| grandpa and hannah settling in for a nap |
| at my cousin steffani's wedding!! |
| the beautiful bride! |
in our secret exclusive room where they allowed
only me and hannah to nurse her in...that didn't stay
so secret thanks to mariah and luke |
| ah my little snoring family. seriously, hannah snores more than andrew. |
| this is how i always know i'm home |
| cousins at the zoo |
| the smiliest baby ever! |
making play dough with grandma. audrey on her tiptoes
shaking with excitement as usual |
| jordan and hannah- the start of a beautiful relationship |
| lego castle with grandpa |
| complete with princesses |
| audrey's first real selfie |
| she got better as she went |
| and then i look at my phone later to find about 30 of these |
| ah my beach! this is my favorite beach, sharp park |
| audrey and grandpa did a lot of bonding this trip |
| first of many many many beach trips in this girl's life |
sam reading one of her favorite books to audrey, doctor de soto. audrey's look of surprise is when the fox
is going to eat the mouse doctor who just helped him! |
luke, the most attentive uncle there ever was. he is so good
to his nieces. |
| the four nieces |
watching auntie sam's 101 dalmatian sing-along from her
childhood |
| hannah and ron swanson |
whenever i would give audrey grapes she would keep
one in each cheek then get down and go play
with them lodged in there. for hours. she'd talk with
them in there, laugh, cry, everything. except eat them. |
she also was determined to wear the play dough as a
hat every time she and addy played with it.
she would just look around like, "um what
are you all looking at? what else am i supposed to do
with it?" |
| audrey and grandma walking off in the distance together |
hadley's uncle joel hanging out with the two girls.
they don't seem to know whose uncle is
whose between luke and joel...so they just share. |
my wonderful, beautiful, amazing, helpful, encouraging
Mom whose help weaning hannah made ALL the difference in my ability to stick with it |
The last week of our stay was spent very very very sick. Everyone in the house, except for a lucky few, got hit with a disgusting and long lasting cold. It was pretty miserable...but if I hadn't been home I would've just been wishing and wishing to be there no matter where I was. So if you have to be sick it is quite a blessing to be able to do so in the comfort of your own home. With your mom there.
It was such a wonderful unexpected visit. I love seeing my family. I have some new medicine to try for my head issues (update: I've been diagnosed with migraines now on top of Meniere's) and so all in all it was a successful trip. Like I said, we got what we were looking for and so much more.
