12 Angry Men

We watched the movie 12 Angry Men tonight for my Conflict Management class. That is a GOOD movie. I had seen it before, but this time around it was more powerful. It made me actually appreciate black and white movies that aren't musicals, which is a big deal for me. Usually that's all I watch. But this one today....it's just so good to see a story unfold like that. No huge embellishments or special effects. The story stands on it's own. I think that's something that has been lost in movies today. For me, movies like this, that are riveting and intelligent, are what makes cinema such a great part of society. Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, To Kill A Mockingbird, Made for Each Other, Citizen Kane, Dial M For Murder. These are a few of the movies that have made me feel kinda smart, ya know? Now don't get me wrong, I still enjoy a good Nacho Libre/Napoleon Dynamite session. But I feel much more invigorated when I can keep up with intelligence rather than silliness.
